A light value on black sketch, which started out looking a bit rasta like, then underwent a kind of transformation as I worked into it, eventually looking like one of many old photos you might dig up at a charity shop of a miner or gold rush geezer. The filter is a little over the top for the old picture look, but does manage to disguise the shoddiness of today's attempt somewhat. He freaks me out.

Day 58 - Troll
Again, another struggling commute experience, but a last minute silhouette moment led to this. It needs a lot more working into, and the leg that's up on his knee looks like its broken, but here's what you get.

Day 57 - Hypnotist
It's a bit of a bland one today. I'd tried and abandoned 4 other drawings on the train ride home, and this one stuck, due mainly to the fact that I was running out of time and a parents evening event at my daughter's school was fast approaching. I like the high neck style shirts that Victorians would wear, so he got one of those and quickly became kind of a drawing room hypnotist gentleman. Oh - and good news - my daughter hasn't been expelled or anything. It is kindergarten after all.

Day 56 - Goosed
A strange mix of C3PO, cosplay and the expression of someone being goosed. The goosing won the title spot.

Day 55 - African male bust
Back to Zbrush for the first time in a long while, and with a dodgy stylus to boot. Frustrations of performing an action to then have Zbrush continue the motion after you've lifted the stylus from the wacom tablet. Annoying. Still, I enjoyed the exercise. I didn't use any reference for this, so please excuse inaccuracies in the facial anatomy - this is my brain's amalgamation of a male face from many countries in Africa.
Also, this is my first attempt at sculpting in Zbrush without using symmetry mode. Definitely added to the challenge, but kept me more in tune with moving around the piece as I worked, more as I would a traditional sculpt.

Day 52 - 4:30
Not much to say on this, other than the significance of the 4:30 was actually a case of mild dyslexia on my part, as I'd meant to have 3:40 as the numerals on the mech suit, due to current certain events in my life right now. That sounds awfully cryptic, and possibly mildly interesting. It's really not. And my laziness in not going back in and adjusting the drawing to reflect this makes it even less so.

Day 50 - Landmark
I think Day 50 strikes me as a landmark moment. The drawing doesn't reflect this in the least, but was fun to do. Only 315 days to go ...

Day 49 - Minotaur
Silhouette study. I'm not happy with this, primarily because I want to work into it more. I see what needs love, but again, time is biting me in the arse and it is time to put this piece, and me, to bed.

Day 48 - Flower Child
Random bizarre doodle, which *almost* got scrapped in favour of (hopefully) a better drawing. But in the end, that drawing never happened and the flower child gets its moment in the sun. Partially obscured by clouds. Maybe raining a bit. Windy?

Day 47 - Bug
Continuing the creature theme, and bug-like again, but this time back to sketchbook pro and the iPad.

Day 46 - Traditional medium creature
I forgot my trusty iPad today, so made the foray into the traditional world for the first time in a fair old while. Below are the original drawing before a rushed and shoddy paintjob, plus a couple of bizarre 'accidents' when editing the pic on my phone (h mirror). I kind of like them, especially the one that looks like a strange dog's face. The other one looks like some strange vaginal creature ...

Day 45 - Orange Top
Just a random doodle today whilst on the phone, and it became the daily drawing as I felt particularly lazy. I will get inspired to produce something a little more interesting soon I hope.

Day 42 - Fun Sized
A quickie doodle sketch on my commute following abandoning a drawing which was starting out way too ambitiously and unlikely to have got finished by the day's end. Sometimes you have to know when to let it go. Fun Sized - no idea. Short and sweet experience, like a small chocolate bar, with very little substance? I'm rambling. Bed.

Day 41 - Centurian
Hardly a Centurian, but the face kind of looks like a centurions's helmet, so why not? Struggled too much with this, and not sure why. In the end it's ok, if a little bland, but I'm out of time so here it is.

Day 40 - Tenticle Beast
Fun with silhouettes and form finding today. Definite Carlos Huante vibe coming through, subconscious but inevitable, having looked at so much of his art over the years.

Day 38 - Space Cadet
I was doodling away at this on my commute home today and suddenly realised I'd managed to jump on the wrong train, so was pulling up to Gatwick Airport. Not where I needed to be, tempting as it was to head in and jump on a plane to somewhere warmer and drier than the U.K. is right now. Annoying to say the least, but on the positive tip I got to get this done by the time I pulled in where I was actually meant to be going. Swings and roundabouts ...

Day 37 - Chick
Thought I'd posted this earlier, but it seems my tethering skills are not what Nokia promised...
This came about in sketchbook pro as I discovered that editing one of the supplied brushes actually does allow some similar results to what I was previously getting inside the Brushes app. Started as a silhouette doodle and evolved into the Chick.

Day 36 - Z
The drawing on my commute home was abandoned, as I wasn't happy with it at all. This Zombie came out as the result of a very transformative doodle. From a few haphazard marks with the intention of some degree of cuteness, to something slightly less cute but which at least has a little punch (super saturated complementary colours help ...). The first sketch is at the bottom for warts an' all coverage.

Day 34 - Silhouette doodle
An exploration in silhouette today. It's fun playing with the shapes, and seeing fairly quickly if your form is fucking up in any way. It seems like a good way to design, as you're not concerned with messing up so much - just focused on playing with shapes and relationships with each other. This is pretty heavily influenced by some of Benoit Godde's fantastic work.

Day 33 - Old photo study
Hitting the traditional medium today, and a quick ballpoint/watercolour study of a great photo I came across a while ago on someone's website (sorry, can't remember whose). Good to try something different, though the drawing could have done with some more work. And the paint. You know, the usual.

Day 32 - Portrait
Heavily inspired by having looked at some Egon Schiele today, so remnants were in my head on my commute home. Kept it simple, and got it done quickly. More fun when I'm not focusing on tight line work.
